Portraying e-motions
Painting with people's emotions

The AI Artwork ‘Portraying e-motions’ is a collective project which addresses the following question :

  • Can we capture emotions, combine them with AI and to produce Art pieces?

With some techie friends we adressed the challenge : building an IoT sensor (GSR) we captured the emotional state of the person, we interpreted the signal and made it trigger the painting changing its color according the level of emotions detected.
This way, with our emotions we becomes the Artist...

'Clock of Life'

Using Processing with a fractal open code

A fractal is a mathematical equation, a pattern found in the laws of nature which repeats itselft at different scales. Examples are everywhere in the forest. Trees are natural fractals, patterns that repeat smaller and smaller copies of themselves.

In February 2019 while talking with some Women in AI (WAI) friends I was mentioning my combined passion for Artificial Intelligence and Art. That triggered our curiosity... we were discussing the intersection between Technology, AI and Art and how it could look like.

With Alyona Galyeva (AI and Data engineer) and Anja Marunovic (PhD in Physics and Data Scientist) we decided to take the challenge.

  • Here the result of our experiment and our exhibition in the WAI Gala (February 2020):

  1. We created an audio stimuli to generate emotions

  2. We built an home-made GSR Sensor to capture emotions, interpreted by our code

  3. And designed a digital art piece ' Clock of Life' which was changing color reflecting live the emotion of the participant.
